Lifelines and fall arrest systems
Installation, certification and annual inspection of EN 795 fall arrest systems.
A lifeline is the system that lets someone move along a roof, a walkway or a facade while permanently attached to an anchor capable of arresting a fall. Done well, it is invisible and gets in nobody’s way. Done badly, it is a certificate hanging from a bolt that will not hold.
We handle the full cycle: we study the substrate, calculate the system, install it, certify it, train whoever will use it and inspect it every year.
Systems we install

Permanent horizontal lifeline
Tensioned stainless steel cable across the roof, with an energy absorber and intermediate anchors that let you pass without unclipping. The usual answer for flat, pitched and profiled steel roofs.

Vertical lifeline
For fixed ladders, towers, silos and chimneys. Cable or rail with a travelling fall arrester that follows the user up and locks automatically.

Temporary lifeline
Demountable systems for construction sites and one-off work. Installed, used and removed without leaving a mark on the building.

Single anchor points
Certified structural anchors for specific jobs: reaching an HVAC unit, a sign or a rooflight. Types A, B and E to EN 795.

Multi-user anchors
When two or more operatives will use the system at once, the calculation changes. We apply CEN/TS 16415 to size the assembly correctly.

Annual inspection and recertification
Inspection of cable, tension, anchors, absorber and supporting structure. Report with photographs, findings and a renewed certificate.

Lifelines
Standards we work to
Installing without justifying the calculation is what turns a safety system into a legal problem. Every installation is documented against these references:
- EN 795 — Anchor devices. Types A, B, C, D and E
- CEN/TS 16415 — Anchor devices for two or more simultaneous users

Frequently asked questions
Can it be installed on a profiled steel or sandwich panel roof?
Yes, but not any which way. On profiled steel the anchor cannot rely on the sheet itself: you have to find the purlin or the supporting structure, or use systems that spread the load across several ribs. You also have to resolve the weatherproofing so you do not create a leak where there was none. This is exactly the kind of detail settled during the site survey.
How many people can use the line at once?
As many as it was calculated for. A system sized for one user will not take two, because the load reaching the anchors in a simultaneous fall is far higher. If you expect several operatives, say so up front: it changes the calculation and sometimes the hardware too.
What if my lifeline has not been inspected for years?
Legally it cannot be used until it is inspected, and its certificate is void. We can carry out a bring-up-to-date inspection: we check the condition, replace whatever has deteriorated and, if the system is recoverable, issue a new certificate. If it is not, we will tell you plainly.
Will installing a lifeline damage the waterproofing?
Not if it is done properly. Every penetration is sealed with a system compatible with the existing roof, and on delicate roofs we use ballasted or penetration-free anchors where the calculation allows. Trading a leak for an anchor is a bad deal for everyone.
